Karen Glisson started The HomesFinder Realty Group with her husband Marty in 2011. Thirteen years, 76 agents, and four locations later you could say they made quite the splash. Even with a growing brokerage, Karen’s focus has always remained on her clients as she says their satisfaction is how she measures her success.
Anna Johnson had always worked for publicly traded companies after college, but in 2019 she moved to Texas and was focused on building a company in the private sector when she wasn’t Rodeoing. Although Covid hit us hard in 2020, she managed to take the company from $17 million to over $98 million in two years. After the pandemic, she took some time off to focus on Rodeo and to decide what her next career adventure would be.
In 2022 Karen and Anna partnered and it was a match made in heaven! Their skill sets are completely different, but at their core is a servitude heart, so their client’s best interest never wavers. Both have strong work ethics that keep them busy, even in downturn markets. Both think outside the box and bring a “can do” attitude that gets you to the closing table. My first “real job” was with American Airlines. I worked as an International Purser Flight Attendant for 23 years. It was an amazing career and it allowed me to live in several exciting cities throughout the world, but Beaufort was always calling me home.
Living out of a suitcase finally took its toll, so I requested an early retirement and went to work for The Sea Island Company creating the first Guest Relations program for The Lodge, one of the few 5-star resorts in America. I worked with an amazing team and we were able to capture the coveted award of being named the “Number 1 Golf Lodge in The USA” by Golf Digest.
Two years later I married Marty Glisson, moved to Beaufort, and we opened The HomesFinder Realty Group. Beaufort has always held a special place in my heart because my family created the Fripp Island Company in 1989. I watched Fripp Island grow and transform into the jewel she is today, I guess you could say we matured together. I do know there is no other place on earth I would rather be!
I truly enjoy my job and I have been told it shows. I use the latest advancements in Real Estate Technology, 5 star customer service and old-fashioned hard work to get results in today’s Real Estate Market. Growing up, I split time between the Golden Isles of Georgia and the Lowcountry. After graduating from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, I embarked on an exhilarating 8-year journey in the golf car industry. From the Rocky Mountains to the Florida Everglades and eventually Texas, I stayed on the move.
In Texas, I accepted a role as Director of Sales, Marketing, and Strategy for a startup, where we achieved remarkable growth under my direction. Acquisitions expanded our portfolio to $97 million – a huge success for the company! However, I was burnt out and not sure of what my next move would be.
Karen Glisson called and asked if I was interested in moving home. It broadcasted “slow” and “quiet,” but my curiosity triggered a two-week visit. I packed up my belongings, Australian Cattle Dog, and American Quarter Horses then headed east.
Carolina quickly became familiar again and two weeks turned into several years. Childhood memories of waking up to glorious Fripp Island sunrises at my grandparents’ home crept in with the salt air. The Lowcountry looks a little different today but lives the same as it always has. And Fripp Island still puts on a breathtaking performance come 6:30 a.m.
